RUG CARE

Handmade Berber rugs are very durable. They can be cleaned and repaired almost infinitely and should last a lifetime.

Your rug may shed some fluff that can be removed by brushing or vacuuming on a high setting.

For the removal of spots or small stains firstly soak up the spill. Mix a little white vinegar, water or small amount of mild detergent soap in a cup and brush gently with a toothbrush or gently sponge.

If after a few years your rug requires a full clean we advise you hire the services of a professional rug cleaner. However it is possible to hand wash your rug in cold water if you have the space. Hose the rug off and let it dry in the warm sun. Do a spot test first to check that no colours will run.

If you live in a snowy area, snow cleaning is an excellent way to clean rugs. Use only freshly fallen dry snow. Leave the covered rug outside for a couple of hours to get thoroughly cold. Now put the dry, cold rug on the snow and shovel clean snow on top. Sweep the snow off the rug with a new, stiff natural fibre brush. The first swept snow will be black. Repeat several times.
